Hike to Los Patos Station

Los Patos Station is one of the main entrances to the Corcovado National Park. Located at the northern side of the park, the trail of Los Patos passes through primary and secondary forests of the Golfo Dulce forest reserve and the Corcovado Park. During this hike you will have the opportunity to explore the lush forest and see any wildlife that cross in your way. Guests will have the chance to relax, swim or have a snack at a small waterfall and natural pool before hiking back to La Tarde.

Hike the Osa Trail

The Osa Trail passes through the highest elevations of the Osa Peninsula. Walk through lowland and inland primary forests during this intense adventure. You will be able to lookout over the incredible view of the Golfo Dulce, mangroves and its surroundings. Guests will have the opportunity to see birds, frogs, lizards, monkeys, as well as other mammals that roam the area. The tour ends in the rural village of San Miguel, where a car awaits to return you to La Tarde.

Tour of Gold

The Tour of Gold follows the El Higuer n Trail which passes through a wide variety of flora and fauna of the Peninsula's primary forest. Guests will pan for gold in a small stream and can even keep the gold they find with Eduardo's help. During this hike guests will also have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife including; monkeys, poison dart frogs, birds and bats. The tour will also visit a stunning water fall (the flow rate varies by season).

Night Hiking Tour

Night hikes lets guests explore the magic of the rain forest at night. Guests and Herpetologists will have the potential to see a myriad of herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians) during the night hikes. Your guide will navigate you through the rain forest looking for a large variety of insects, lizards, snakes, amphibians, nocturnal mammals and birds.

  • Distance: 3-4 km round-trip

  • Required Gear : Closed-toed shoes/boots (rubber boots strongly advised) and a reliable flashlight and/or headlamp.

Water

Guests are recommended drink at least one liter of water for every hour of hiking. Water is frequently available along the trail but proper filteration or treatment is required. Dehydration can occur very quickly and can ruin your experience so please stay hydrated.

Shoes

Hiking in the jungle has inherent risks from ants to venomous reptiles. Guests are strongly advised to wear closed-toe shoes at all times. While not required rubber boots are strongly advised. Rubber boots are available on a first come, first served basis.

Children

0 - 5 years - Free

5 to 11 years - 50% of the general tour rate.

NOTE: Some tours are not recommended or possible for kids under 5 years.

Due to the irregular topography, heat, and rough terrain of the Osa Peninsula guests are recommended to assess their physical limits before committing to a tour, hike, or trek. If you have concerns please speak to your guide ahead of time. If you have a limiting physical condition, a Private Tour is always available to meet your specific needs.
